NARS Smudge-Proof Eyeshadow Base // Beauty

Good Day!
Happy Friday!

In the spirit of the weekend and all it has to offer, I thought I would review a product you may or may not find useful in your weekend "look", the NARS Smudge-Proof Eyeshadow Base.

As far as its claim to be "smudge-proof", the product does not lie. I put this on under Urban Decay Naked palette eyeshadows, and about 14 hours later I was still having to scrub at my lids to get it off. Super potent!

However, this can be a good and a bad thing. The good news is that once you nail the perfect eyeshadow, it's not going anywhere. The bad news is that if you make a mistake or need to change your shadow part-way through the day, that shadow is still not going anywhere. If you have fairly oily lids, this may be a good option for you, since it might help counteract that slippy effect.

This is a good product, but I would say that if you don't really struggle with your shadow, a less potent formula like Urban Decay's Primer Potion might be a better option. Since I had a bit of a hard time putting eyeshadow on over this base, I didn't enjoy it as much as I could have. Perhaps with a bit of practice I can perfect it.

Until next time,

The Great Gatsby // Movies

Hello everyone!
Hope you've had a grand day!

Tonight I wanted to tell you about an amazing movie I saw in theatres last week, and haven't had a chance to write about: The Great Gatsby.

(Image taken from the Vancouver Sun)

It's been a really long time since I read the book, so I wasn't sure what to expect. But "The Great Gatsby" on film was absolutely amazing! Baz Luhrmann did a fantastic job as usual, representing the culture and lifestyle of the 20s with his own twist. The soundtrack was modern and included works by Jay-Z (producer), Beyonce (but of course), Lana Del Rey, Fergie, Jack White, Florence + The Machine, and others. However, the music was tasteful and didn't detract from the 20s atmosphere at all.

The costumes and makeup were gorgeous, and looked exactly like pictures you might see from that decade. Leo DiCaprio's acting was incredible (old sport), as well as Carey Mulligan. It really was a perfect tale of lost love. Tobey Maguire's character was a little "meh", but in all honesty I think that was the point. The story wasn't about him after all!

Thanks for reading, check back tomorrow night for my next post, a review of a couple of NARS products I have splurged on recently!

Until next time,
Liv :)

Sorry... I'm back!

Well hello there!
Welcome back!

As you may or may not have noticed, I have been a bit off the radar recently. Between final exams, graduation, starting back to work, and now strep throat, I have been a busy/sleepy gal. BUT I have just taken an antibiotic and I am back in the blogging business!

Today I wanted to talk about a video that has been circling around Facebook since about yesterday afternoon. If you are a Facebook user, one of your friends has probably shared it, and for good reason. If you haven't had a chance to watch it, or don't know what I'm talking about, I strongly encourage you to watch this video:

(If it doesn't work, click the YouTube icon in the top left corner, which will take you to the actual YouTube page)

As cliche as it sounds, there is a quote that says "it's not about the years in your life, but more about the life in your years", and how true is that? If we put off everything we ever dreamed of doing in life, we may not get the chance! I can't remember the exact quote, but in the video Zach says something like "You don't have to find out that you're dying to start really living". Just because everything seems comfortable right now, doesn't mean we should procrastinate on achieving our goals and following our dreams.

Step out of your box. Begin saving for your dream vacation. Try out for a play. Start writing your ideas down on paper, and see what you can create. Enter that photography contest. Make that video. Join a club. I guarantee you, you'll be glad that you did.

Until next time,
Liv xx
