A Change Would Do You Good

What a great song!

Before I start talking about this subject, I just wanted to apologize for my absence over the last few days! I find, sadly, that the weekends are my busiest times for schoolwork, so they will probably be pretty quiet as far as my blog goes.

Aaaah, Pinterest. If you are like me, you may have browsed the pages of Pinterest, and wished you could possess just an ounce of the style in your own home that's floating around the "Home Decor" boards these days.

In my case, I am still stuck living at home with the parentals. In the past couple of months, since I am not moving back to school this year, I have been itching to turn my room into a "grownup room". You see, due to the fact that I have not been living here for long periods of time, my room has not changed since I was about 14.

Over the last few weeks, I have made lots of changes to my room, and it is looking fabulous. I have painted the walls a light blue, to cover the lime green that was once there. Painting is a relatively inexpensive way to really spruce up a room. I have bought new furniture, to replace the four-poster bed and princess dressers I have had since age 4, and I have even set up a little fish tank! I find that sometimes changing up your environment can make life a little more exciting, even if it's just for a little while. I also find that doing little DIY projects to add to a room can be fun as well.

I really want to share my finished space with you all, however my new mattress is currently on back-order. This is causing my bed to look a little funny at the moment! Once that arrives, I'll be sure to take lots of photos and let you into my little world!

What projects have you been itching to take on in your home? I want to know!

Until next time!
Liv :)

What Does the Fox Say?

Hey everyone!
Welcome back!

This post is going to be a bit of a different, personal one! I was talking to my friend, Kim (check out her blog here) about what I was going to write about tonight. She told me I should write about what I'm excited for in 'Septober'. So that is what I am going to do!

In Septober, I am excited to start getting healthy. I have always been a bigger individual, and I have always hated it. But not quite enough that I really did anything about it. Sure, I have done diets and joined the gym, but I have never stuck to it.

One of my favourite things to do is discover new YouTubers and watch lots of their videos. In the past couple of days, I have stumbled across the various channels of the Shaytards. If you've heard of them, you might know that Shaycarl, the daddy of the family, had a pretty awesome weight loss journey and got himself in great shape. I have to say, this really inspired me. So a few days ago I decided to start getting healthy and in shape. It's not going to be easy, or quick by any means, but I'm really excited to see what I can accomplish and to keep you all posted.

Don't worry, just as I said this was not going to become a religious blog, it's not going to be a weight loss blog either. This is just going to be one of the many lifestyle topics I mention every once in a while.

So, here I go! Well... not right at this moment. I'm currently working on three school assignments while listening to a loop of S Club 7, Luke Bryan, and the ever popular song "What Does the Fox Say".

Until next time!

Get In My Belly

Hello there!
Today I thought I would change things up a bit by sharing a recipe!

One of my favourite things to make for a party is nachos. But usually, the recipe for nachos is pretty straightforward. Today I wanted to share a recipe that I've been using recently that is a yummy alternative! Here are the ingredients you'll need:

- 1 bag of nacho chips (Tostitos are my favourite)
- 1 lb. of ground beef
- 1 packet of taco seasoning
- 1 bag of shredded cheese
- 1 bottle of french dressing

You won't be using the entirety of these ingredients, but you can't exactly buy half a bottle of dressing now can you?

The first thing to do is preheat your oven to 'broil'. If you don't have this preset on your oven, set it to 550°F.

The next thing to do is fry up your hamburger on the stove. Once it starts to break up more easily, you can add in your taco seasoning and make sure it's well mixed in. You can use as much of the packet as you see fit.

Spread an even layer of nacho chips on a pan. You don't want too many in a pile, as the toppings won't reach the bottom that way. Now, here is where the twist comes in.

Drizzle your french dressing on the nachos as you would with barbecue sauce on typical nachos. Make sure you don't get any huge globs as this will make the nachos soggy.

Spread your cooked hamburger and shredded cheese over the chips, and pop it in the oven for a couple of minutes, just long enough to melt the cheese. Take them out and let them cool for about five minutes, and voila! You have a lovely, delicious treat ready for your consumption.

Hope you enjoy the recipe, I actually really enjoyed the process of making this blog post!
In the comments, let me know what your favourite party recipe is.

Until next time!

"I Smell Corn"

Good day everyone!

You may have noticed a bit of silence from me this weekend. Fear not, I haven't forgotten my blog once more. I have just been taking advantage of this beautiful fall weather! I don't know about you, but my favourite part of the fall season is when the season is just turning. It's still gorgeous out, but not too hot, and you can just smell fall in the air. I love this time of year!

This weekend, I travelled to the the Annapolis Valley and Halifax, both in Nova Scotia, Canada, to visit two friends from university, and one friend from home who is away at university. While I was in the Valley, I went to a really cute farm, which included an epic corn maze. So I decided to take a few pictures to share with you!

Some pretty plants outside of the corn maze.

Our map of the maze. I was in shock at how elaborate it was!

I loved the view of the corn against the bright blue sky that day.

A gross but neat-looking piece of corn.

A view of the maze from a tall bridge we crossed.

As you can see, I had a lovely time on this beautiful, sunny autumn weekend with friends. What is your favourite time of year? What do you like to do in the fall season? Let me know in the comments!
Also, don't forget to follow this blog on Blogger itself, as well as Bloglovin'!

Until next time!

National Back to Church Sunday

Hi there!

My name is Olivia, and I go to church. Just thought I'd put that out there. I have been involved in church activities my whole life, and I wouldn't feel complete without it. That being said, the last thing I want is for this space to become a 'religious blog'. But when I stumbled upon this precious video, I simply had to share it with the blogging world!

National Back to Church Sunday is coming up on October 6th, and the organization running this initiative has made this awesome clip to encourage people to get into a church! I laughed so hard when I watched this, that I wanted you all to experience it as well. The church name shown at the end of the video is the one I attended while away at university, however I am not sure where the actual music video was made.

Hope you enjoyed, and remember, everybody across the nation, find a location!

Until next time,
Liv xx

That's My Kind of Night

Hello there!
I hope you're having a great day!

Where I come from, country music is quite a thing. I don't live quite in the 'sticks', but just a hop, skip and a jump from my house is what you might call proper country land. There are farms, fields and trees a-plenty. So you can imagine that we like to get our 'hoedown' on every once in a while. Which is why I wanted to tell you about this beautiful individual who is currently on everyone's country music radar:

LUKE BRYAN.

Yummy, right? Married? Absolutely. But that doesn't mean we can't ogle just a little, right?

You may have heard some of his music before. His most popular songs include 'Country Girl, Shake It For Me', 'Rain is a Good Thing', 'Drunk On You', and 'Crash My Party'.

Personally, I am a huge fan of his second last album 'Spring Break... Here to Party'. It makes me want to go speedboating, fishing, camping and beer drinking all at the same time. His newest song 'That's My Kind Of Night' is also to die for.

If you're not typically a country-music-listener (trust me, I really can't get into it either), I urge you to give Luke Bryan a listen. I guarantee, you won't be disappointed. Well... you might be, but that's alright, at least you've expanded your horizons!

What I'd like to hear from you is: what kind of music do you listen to? Is country your thing? Leave me a comment!

As I write this, 'That's My Kind of Night' just began playing on the radio, and I can't stop grooving along! So I will leave you here, and hope you have wonderful, sunny autumn evening wherever you may be!

Until next time,
Liv xx

PS. if you are seeing a beautiful new flowery and colorful design (it may not yet be installed) let's give some props to Wonder Forest for arranging it all for me! Thanks!

The Little Things Are the Big Things

Have you ever found yourself feeling very bored? Or caught yourself wishing your life was better, or more grand? I know I have. Sometimes it feels like our little lives are dull, uneventful, not exciting enough. But when you step back and look at the big picture, you might find that the little things in life are what make it wonderful. So today I thought I would share with you a few things in my life that I am very grateful for, no matter how little. Be forewarned, most of these snaps are from my phone and not of the best photographic quality.

Perusing the bargain bin at Target. 'Romantic Favorites'? Hmmm...

The beauty of your city.

A colourful sunset.

Dinner with friends.

Making teddy bears with your bestie.

Taking pictures of your brother when he falls asleep at work.

When little kids make you stuff.

See what I mean? All of those things are pretty simple, but don't they just make life that much brighter? What are some little things in your life that make you happy? Let me know!

Until next time,
Liv <3

Twerkin' it Out

Hi! My name is Olivia, and I am self conscious.

Now, I know I just did a post about body confidence (and by 'just' I mean a month ago... oops). But that is not the self conscious I am talking about. Have you ever taken what you thought to be a really great picture, only to find out that you actually looked like an alpaca on shaving day? This is how I feel whenever I try to make a Youtube video.

For the last 8 months or so, I have aspired to have my own channel, with lots of funny/inspiring/thoughtful videos. I have a whole book full of video plans. But, to my chagrin, every time I sit down to record such a thing, I end up trashing the whole project because I am not comfortable with the way I look/the way I talk/THE AMOUNT OF TIMES I BLINK WHEN I'M NERVOUS!

So all that being said, I PROMISE YOU, videos are coming. And in case you're interested, I have tagged this post with some of the categories of ideas I have for the future. I'm really looking forward to sharing this with you!

Until next time,
Liv xx
